The development of the School can be traced back to the establishment of Hangzhou Aviation Finance and Economics School (the predecessor of the University) in 1956. When Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Engineering was established in 1980, the Department of Management Engineering was independently founded. In 1995, the School of Business Administration was established. In 2000, the Management School was established. At present, relying on the electronic information characteristics and advantages of the University, the School is committed to building a high-level school with obvious informatization characteristics and first-class and international level, and becoming an important base for digital management talent education, digital management innovation research and social services in China, especially in Zhejiang Province.
The School has a doctoral degree authorization point in the first level discipline of management science and engineering, two master degree authorization points in the first level discipline of management science and engineering and business administration, authorization points for MBA, engineering management and other professional master degrees, eight undergraduate majors and one Sino-German joint education major. At present, there are more than 1300 undergraduates, more than 160 postgraduates, and nearly 400 MBA and engineering master students.
At present, the School has 80 full-time teachers, including 19 professors, 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 2 experts enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, 2 talents of the Ministry of Education in the "new century", 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in Zhejiang Province, and 1 "first level" talent of 151 talent project in Zhejiang Province. The School has three provincial discipline innovation teams, including the team of informatization and management innovation and so on.
In the past five years, the School has led and undertaken more than 90 national scientific research projects (including 3 key projects of the national natural science foundation, 1 key project of the national social science foundation), has won more than 20 provincial and ministerial (and above) awards. The School has published more than 100 papers collected in SCI/SSCI and first-class journals, among which 1 paper has been selected as ESI hot topic paper and 3 papers have been frequently cited. Relying on the Innovation and Development Research Institute of Hangzhou Dianzi University (an industry and informatizaiton think tank), the Informatization Development Research Institute of Zhejiang Province (a new and key think tank in Zhejiang Province), the Informatization Development Research Center of Zhejiang Province and the Development Strategy and Evaluation Research Center on Promoting Development of the Province with Education" (two new university think tanks of Zhejiang Province), the School focuses on promoting national development with the network, digital China and the "No.1 Project" of Zhejiang digital economy, carries out decision-making consultation and social services to promote high-quality development.
